A Bit About Me

I was born and raised in Northern Ireland during the period of civil unrest known as 'The Troubles'.  My childhood a mix of innocence and harsh reality. Our parents worked hard and taught us the importance of doing our best. I lived north east of Belfast and despite the conflict in 'the town', my world was happy and secure. Climbing the Knockagh in the summer with my brother. Kicking a football in the street, laughing and playing 'kirby' with our Catholic neighbours. Getting the bus to the Grove Baths and the steam train, 'The Portrush Flyer' from Belfast to the seaside.  Falling asleep on the way home.  The magic of counting Christmas trees in the windows at Christmas. Memories I hold onto fondly.

However 'The Troubles' cast a long shadow. They left pain and destruction for so many. . Scorch marks on the road at the end of our street, where our neighbour, an off duty policeman, was blown up by a booby trap bomb. The deafening silence after an explosion at the Royal Courts of Justice where I worked. Sifting through rubble to rescue whatever we could.

Life moves on. I have been married for  32 years and raised two wonderful children, like us in so many ways, yet uniquely themselves. Our journey took us across continents. I fell in love with Hong Kong's energy, navigated the complexities of China, and found a home in Thailand. Each experience, from volunteering in a baby care unit to establishing an orphanage and school, shaped me.

And now? I am based in the UK and embracing a new season in my life. The season has a name. Love bears All.
